Earlier this month, Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter (h/t Wrestling Inc) reported Marko Stunt remained under contract with the company but questioned whether or not the promotion would renew his deal. Joey Janela’s contract is reportedly set to expire in the spring. As of this writing, Cody Rhodes is reportedly working without a contract. Rush’s departure comes at a time where several AEW contracts are coming due. Rush appeared to have been replaced in Dante Martin’s ongoing feud with Team Taz as the once-dormant Jay Lethal came to his aid during the Janubroadcast of AEW Dynamite. I pray that 2022 is a year of positive change in all aspects. I look forward to working with Tony to keep making steps towards positive change. I am proud to work for a boss and company that try to make these strides in social equality. “I am grateful to be able to understand more about Tony and Megah’s own ethnic backgrounds and glad that they are actively seeking input from an African American perspective. “Having spoken to Tony and Megah, we have discussed the endeavors to further understand the struggles of the black community,” said Rush. In the post, Rush said he was “ proud” to work with Tony Khan and AEW. Rush later noted that he had a conversation with Khan and AEW Senior Vice President and Chief Legal Counsel Megha Parekh. Among the many tweets criticizing Khan for his comments was Rush, who bluntly tweeted “APOLOGIZE” at his soon-to-be former boss. Khan’s tweet led to intense backlash from the wrestling community.
